A unique, one-off performance celebrating the life and loves of Pablo Picasso will take place at New Park Centre on Saturday 21st March at 3pm, raising vital funds for the charitys RAISE THE ROOF community fundraising appeal.

Canción Gitana present: Picasso His Life and Loves is a powerful 90 minute, two act flamenco spectacular that explores the extraordinary life, art and complex relationships of Pablo Picasso, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.

Created and choreographed by the highly respected flamenco dancer Helena La Leyenda, the production features an international company of dancers, musicians and performers. The show brings to life Picassos creative evolution, from his Blue and Rose periods to Cubism and Surrealism; alongside the women who inspired, shaped and challenged his work.

The production features: Principal dancer Helena, with dancers Varina, Nancy and Clara; recorded poetry by Lorca specialist Rosario Serrano; the ethereal voice of legendary cante jondo singer Fernando Reyes, and the passionate flamenco guitar of Tomás de Córdoba.

This is a one-off benefit concert and a rare opportunity to experience a world-class flamenco production while supporting a much-loved community centre. Tickets cost just £25 and all proceeds will support New Park Centres community appeal to raise a total of £450,000 needed to replace the buildings ageing roof, so safeguarding the future of the charities, clubs and societies that call the centre home

Principal dancer Helena who is organising the fundraising concert, runs Flamenco and ballet classes at New Park Centre. Her motivation to put on the one-off benefit show comes from first-hand experience of the centres importance to community life and the arts in Chichester, as she said:  New Park Centre is my home. I see the role it plays in supporting creativity, wellbeing and connection in our community. And Ive experienced personally how important spaces like this are, especially for the arts. Organising this benefit performance feels like a meaningful way to give something back and help ensure New Park Centre can continue supporting future generations.

Allison McDonald-Hughes, Centre Manager at New Park Centre, commented: We are absolutely thrilled to Helena for choosing to put on this one-off show in support of our RAISE THE ROOF appeal. Were a small but busy team here at New Park so the support we receive from our hirers, their members and the wider community means everything to us. This isnt just about a roof - its about protecting a community asset that people really care about and that makes a difference to everyday life. Were so excited to welcome audiences to this very special event.

New Park Centre is more than a building. It is a vital community hub where friendships grow, families feel supported and lives are enriched. The roof replacement is essential to protect the centres ability to continue serving thousands of people each year through arts, wellbeing, support services and community activities.
