A Celebration of Latin American Cinema

As an introduction to the Latin American film strand at the Chichester International Film Festival, Deborah Shaw, Professor of Film and Screen Studies at the University of Portsmouth, and the author of several books on Latin American cinema, will present a talk celebrating cinema from the region.

In the talk, illustrated with clips, she will highlight some of the most exciting films of recent years, including some of those featuring in this years Film Festival, and discuss what makes them special.

Latin American filmmakers, including Walter Salles (The Motorcycle Diaries and Im Still Here) and Kleber Mendonça Filho (The Secret Agent) have a talent for applying creative cinematic techniques and compelling storytelling to illustrate social and political themes.
